  2. Mahwah Museum Exhibits: "Mahwah's Herstory" & " Medicine in Mahwah"

    “Mahwah’s Herstory: The Changing Roles of Women in Mahwah’s History”, examines the role of women in Mahwah’s history, starting with its first settler, Blandina Bayard, and continuing through to 1960. It highlights women’s activities, including pioneering and farming, changing roles in the workforce, and women’s accomplishments in the arts, in charitable organizations and in social reforms. “Medicine in Mahwah” highlights the history of medicine in Mahwah. It examines the growth and development of the medical field with highlights on Mahwah’s practitioners, their methods, and instruments throughout various periods.

  3. Pascack Historical Society Museum WWI Centennial Exhibit: "OVER THERE!"

    "To have the world made safe for democracy" the PHS commemorates 100 years since the U.S. entered World War I. In honor of the centennial of the United States entry into WWI, David Moskowitz has created a fascinating exhibit of artifacts, photos and uniforms, many from his family. On display through June 4.

  4. BALAM Dance Theatre Presents Poetry Moves at Fort Lee Public Library

    BALAM Dance Theatre (BALAM), a non-profit professional dance theatre company, returns to New Jersey to premiere its new Out & About series program, Poetry Moves, created in honor of National Poetry Month to spotlight various modalities of poetic communication. This entertaining, family friendly program will be presented at the Fort Lee Public Library. BALAM, a New York City-based company, offers a new vision of contemporary dance by combining diverse cultural dance styles from around the world and time periods with Balinese theatre. This latest cross-cultural program features BALAM’s artists from Spain, Japan, Mexico and the United States: Inma Heredia, the world’s first and only flamenco stand-up comedian; Toshinori Hamada, Barbara Romero, Yumiko Niimi, artistic director Carlos Fittante, and guest percussionist Guzeli. Performers will dance in beautiful vibrantly colored traditional and fusion costumes.

  5. Pascack Historical Society WWI Centennial Lecture: "“To Have The World Made Safe For Democracy”

    Dr. Troncone, a popular speaker at the museum,will return to discuss factors that led America to enter the war on April 6, 1917, after having tried to maintain a position of neutrality since the war's outbreak in Europe in 1914. He is chair of both the History Department at Dominican College in Orangeburg, New York and the PHS Historical Advisory Board of Trustees. He earned his B.A. at Kean University and his M.A. and Ph.D. at Rutgers University. He founded and supervises the Dominican College/PHS Student Intern Program at the museum. A question and answer session will follow the talk. Complimentary coffee and cake served.

  6. The Waldwick Band Performs at the Village School

    The Waldwick Band performs on Sunday, April 30th at the Village School, 100 West Prospect Street, Waldwick at 2:30 p.m. The free concert will also include a performance by the Waldwick High School Band as guest artists. The program will include music by Rossini, Thomson, Gershwin, Osser, Gliere and Sousa. The Village School has an auditorium with comfortable seating, plenty of parking and is barrier free.     The Company Theatre Group presents: "Rabbit Hole", the TONY nominated & Pulitzer Prize-winning play by David Lindsay-Abaire, directed by Lou Scarpati. This wonderful and thought-provoking play explores the complex human condition of grief as a family struggles to try to cope with the loss of their young son and asks the question what if you could travel like Alice through a rabbit hole to another a new time, place, and circumstance.
