"Colonial Architecture in NJ" at the Meadowlands Museum

Saturday, March 24, 2018

On Saturday March 24th, the Meadowlands Museum will host author David Veasey who will give an illustrated talk on his book, "New Jersey's Colonial Architecture Told in 100 Buildings." In this the most crowded and developed state in the union, a substantial number of buildings remain from our colonial past: the Royal Governor’s Mansion in Perth Amboy, the still functioning Black Horse Inn in Mendham, the meetinghouse-style Fairfield Presbyterian Church in Salem County, Nassau Hall on the grounds of Princeton University, Washington’s Headquarters in Morristown, and the Sandy Hook Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in the country. And the past isn’t really dead: several of our contemporary architectural styles can trace their roots to the Colonial Era. The Museum is currently open to the public on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm.
