A Sacred Space: The Enslaved African Memorial Committee Event

Sunday, February 25, 2018

The Enslaved African Memorial Committee will host an evening of celebration as they "kick off" the conceptual design plans for the "Enslaved African Memorial" to be constructed on the Teaneck Township Municipal Green. It will be a festive time with invited guest speakers, honorees and notable artists. The event will be held on at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Teaneck. This is a historic moment in the history of African Americans, as we celebrate and honor the major contributions made in what was the most horrific period (slavery) in American history, the forcibly enslavement of Africans specifically in Bergen County, NJ and the USA. Their story will be told and the Memorial will be erected to honor the enslaved Africans for their endurance, resilience, fortitude and brilliance.
