Who We Are

Public Health Nurses provide inter-local health services as described in N.J.A.C. 8:51, N.J.A.C. 8:52, and N.J.A.C. 8:57 through the following programs:

What We Do

Health Consultation (N.J.A.C. 8:52)

  • Conduct health assessments and referrals. Our services include:
    • Health History Evaluation
    • Blood Pressure Measurement
    • Height and Weight Measurement
    • Individualized Counseling and Education
    • Referral and Follow up
    • Confidential Consultation with a Public Health Nurse
  • Offer educational programs for Chronic Disease Self-Management
  • Provide clinics for flu vaccines

Immunization Audits (N.J.A.C. 8:57 subchapter 4)

  • Conduct periodic surveys and audits for children in daycare, preschool, Kindergarten- 12th Grade
  • Educate parents, teachers, school nurses, physicians regarding New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) regulations and current Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations for vaccination of school age population
  • Refer adults/children for primary and booster immunizations
  • Report to NJDOH

Lead Case Investigations (N.J.A.C. 8:51 Subchapter 2)

  • Conduct investigations for elevated childhood lead levels
  • Partner with other BCDHS Divisions to conduct site visit for cases
  • Educate parents and caregivers on reduction of lead levels and prevention of future exposure
  • Report to NJDOH
